Carol Thompson – The Peacock's Feather (A Celtic Quest). 1996.

Born in America of Anglo-Welsh-Irish-Austrian heritage, Carol Thompson is one of America's foremost players of the Celtic harp. She began playing the pedal harp at age thirteen. After years of playing classical music, she allowed her lifelong interest in medieval and renaissance history to take to the fore, and learned to play several variants of her instrument. During this period, she also discovered the music of her heritage and fell in love with it. Carol plays the familiar orchestral pedal harp, the bright sounding neo-Celtic harp, and the triple harp.

Fox - Fox. 1975.

After writing and producing for other artists in the sixties, Kenny Young (he penned Under The Boardwalk for The Drifters) put together Fox in the early seventies, recruiting Australian singer Susan Traynor from Wooden Horse (she renamed herself Noosha Fox for this project) and Irish singer Herbie Armstrong to record the band's first album in 1975, which also featured guest vocals by Queen's Roger Taylor. The band broke up after three albums. Traynor pursued a solo career as Noosha Fox while Young and Armstrong formed Yellow Dog.

Yma Sumac - Mambo. 1954.

The following text appears on back of sleeve:

"The Mambo - as full of color as exotic it is - becomes infinitely more colorful and exotic when interpreted by the voice of Yma Sumac.

The incredible talent of this young woman is internationally renowned. From festivals in her native village of Ichochan, high in the Peruvian Andes, to concert stages in the world's most cosmopolitan centers, audiences have acclaimed her voice as it soars and plunges dramatically through its fabulous range.

In this album of mambos the stirring voice of Yma Sumac creates melodic patterns as colorful and varied as the selections she sings - selections written for her by the talented South American composer Moises Vivanco, and Billy May, who arranged and conducted the brilliant orchestral settings.

The mambo's excitement emerges from the amazingly infectious character of its beat - a rhythm so full of fascination that it has even been known to lure large groups of people from their daily responsibilities. And if the mambo beat alone is an exotic community hazard, there's no telling what its effect will be when heard as recorded here by Yma Sumac!"
